About me:

I am a dually certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and nurse midwife, with over 2o years of experience in midwifery and women's health and 6 years of experience in psychiatry and mental health.

I chose to become a psychiatric practitioner because of my own trauma recovery journey, my own long road of recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome, and the vast unmet needs I faced for mental health care among my midwifery and women's health patients.

Coming from a deeply spiritual Indian family, I never believed in the Cartesian mind-body split (cogito ergo sum). I grew up with Ayurvedic and yogic understandings of how mind and body intersect and inhabit one another. Thus I offered complementary and alternative treatments in my midwifery practice in communities which were open to those, such as on Cape Cod. Meditation, yoga, pranayama, and Ayurvedic dietary principles have been a part of my lifestyle for most of my adult life and played a large part in my recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome, as well my own trauma work. I became a student of Buddhism upon receiving my diagnosis in 2008. Mindfulness and compassion cultivation through Theravada Buddhist and more recently Vajrayana practices have shaped my continued growth and development towards individuation.
I was called to psychedelic medicine because of the undeniable evidence for its efficacy in trauma recovery and feel strongly about taking an integrative approach to psychedelic integration.
I earned a Bachelors in Genetics from UC Davis, a Masters in Nursing from Yale University, and post-graduate training in psychiatry from UC San Francisco. I am a certified psychedelic-assisted psychotherapist through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. I have a certificate in Compassion-Based Psychotherapy and Embodied Transformation through the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science and am in their Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy training this year. I also have training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Processing.
